What would you say to a student who is wondering if he/she should apply to this program?
I was very anxious about traveling to a continent to which I'd never traveled, to a country where I didn't speak the language, and studying in a group of students that I didn't know. Within the first few hours of landing in Shanghai I knew I'd made one of the best decisions of my life.

If you are interested in being an Econ major, or in the Elliott School, this is a great opportunity for cultural exposure, as well as on-the-ground economic exposure to a future / current economic global leader.

What would you say to a student who is wondering if he/she should apply to this program?
I highly recommend this course. The course material is very approachable and well-written, especially for those who are not so well-versed in the field of economics. The professor, Dr. Suranovic, does an excellent job of breaking down the core elements of the international economic system and its theories. Regarding the study abroad portion, Shanghai is the perfect location for experiencing the Chinese segment of the class and provides ample opportunities to explore one of the largest cities in the world.

What did you get out of this program?
I have not had the chance to study abroad in other locations with GW. However, I highly enjoyed this opportunity to experience China in an academic setting and would consider some of the other options GW has to offer within the Elliott School.
