IPADE Business School

“My exchange program here is coming to an end but I truly believe that this was the highlight of my MBA experience. …I am thankful for all the great moments I’ve had during this adventure and all the learning and help I received from IPADE.
Mexico is a great place to be, IPADE is a great school and the Mexican people never cease to amaze me with their generosity and kindness.” - Marc Tayah, GMBA’16.

IPADE campus

Is this Program for me?

IPADE is the Universidad Panamericana's School of Business.  Founded in Mexico City in 1967 by several prominent business leaders,IPADE is the only institution founded from the enterprise, for the enterprise. It is the first institution in Mexico to center its work on attaining excellence in general management through a process that develops managerial skills by applying the knowledge mastered to practical uses. IPADE has the largest alumni network in Mexico and many business connections in Mexico and Latin America. IPADE's quality and consistency has merited its being ranked among the most outstanding business schools in the world and a top business school in Latin America. IPADE is ranked 80th worldwide in the Financial Times Global MBA 2016 ranking.

The IPADE exchange is open to all degree-seeking graduate students within the School of Business.

The Mexico City campus is located outside the heart of the city.  The campus' historic buildings offer an escape from the bustling city, but keep you close enough to be part of the action and is ideal for students who wish to visit and experience other locations in Mexico.

Exchange students are eligible to attend IPADE during one of two terms during GW's Spring semester. This opportunity is not available for Fall study abroad.

  • Winter Term: January - mid-March
  • Spring Term: April - mid-June

*Exact dates may vary

IPADE's elective courses focus on business management and follow a practical approach based on the case study method.  Exchange students choose from a list of all available courses and receive a space confirmation upon receipt of their selection. Students can confirm once they are at IPADE, during the first 2 days of class (Drop/Add period).

Exchange students are eligible to participate in the annual study trip for which 45% of the costs are covered.

**Students who attend IPADE during the Winter Term are automatically enrolled in the one-week "Mexico as an Emerging Market" short-term exchange program.

Language of Instruction

Courses at IPADE are taught in English.  Lectures given in Spanish will offer simultaneous translation if necessary.  A Spanish Language Course (free of charge) is available for students that wish to improve their Spanish skills. It is 4 to 6 hours per week at IPADE.  Note that GWSB students cannot earn GW credits for participation in language coursework.

IPADE does not provide housing for exchange students, but personal assistance will be provided thru the international office.

Career Development

Students may utilize the IPADE career management services for guidance. Exchange students are strongly encouraged to meet with The F. David Fowler Career Center prior to departure for the exchange.
