IPADE Business School

Is this Program for me?

ipadeIPADE is the Universidad Panamericana's School of Business.  Founded in Mexico City in 1967 by several prominent business leaders, it  is the first institution in Mexico to center its work on attaining excellence in general management through a process that develops managerial skills by applying the knowledge mastered to practical uses.  IPADE's quality and consistency has merited its being ranked among the most outstanding business schools in the world and a top business school in Latin America.

The IPADE exchange is open to all degree-seeking graduate students within the School of Business.

Location

The Mexico City campus is located outside the heart of the city.  The campus' historic buildings offer an escape from the bustling city, but keeps you close enough to be part of the action and is ideal for students who wish to visit and experience other locations in Mexico.

Calendar*

Exchange students are eligible to attend IPADE during one of two terms during GW's Spring semester.  This opportunity is not available for Fall study abroad.

  • Winter Term: January - late March

  • Spring Term: April - mid June

*Exact dates may vary

Courses*

All classes are based on 80 minutes sessions and exchange students sign up for the equivalent of 5 units per term.  IPADE's elective courses focus on business management and follow a practical approach based on the case study method.  Exchange students choose from a list of all avaliable courses and receive a space confirmation upon receipt of their selection. Students can confirm once they are at IPADE, during the first 5 days of class (Drop/Add period).  *Students who attend IPADE during the Winter Term are automatically enrolled in the one-week "Doing Business in Mexico" short-term exchange program.

Language of Instruction

Most of the courses at the IPADE during the program are taught in English.  Courses taught in Spanish will offer simultaneous translation if necessary.  A Spanish Language Course (free of charge) is available for students that wish to improve their Spanish skills. It is 4 to 6 hours per week at IPADE.  Note that GWSB students cannot earn GW credits for participation in language coursework.

Housing

IPADE does not provide housing for exchange students, but personal assistance will be provided thru the international office.

Career Development

IPADE does not arrange internships for exchange students, however students may pursue internships independently.  Students may utilize the IPADE career management services for guidance.  Exchange students are strongly encouraged to meet with The F. David Fowler Career Center prior to departure for the exchange.
