The Social Media Ambassador Scholarship provides $1,000 for students who are interested in sharing their study abroad experience with current and prospective GW study abroad students. You will provide the Office for Study Abroad with content that will be shared across our social media platforms (@GWAbroad).

The goal of the Social Media Ambassador Scholarship is to share relevant and relatable content from the student perspective. As an Ambassador, your posts will be a resource for other GW students to learn about your host country’s culture, language, and much more!

All applicants must meet the following criteria at the time of application:
  1. Meets all study abroad eligibility requirements;
  2. Be willing to immerse yourself in the culture of the host country;
  3. Creativity and strong writing skills.

Application Requirements

All application materials must be submitted online via GW Passport.  Paper submissions will not be accepted.

1. Create a 1 minute video showing your favorite place to go in DC:

  • What makes this place unique?
  • How would you describe it to someone who has never been to this place before?
  • Why do you think other students should visit your favorite place?

2. Financial aid award letter or short statement of financial need

  • Fall semester: May 1
  • Spring semester: December 1

Students' scholarship applications will be reviewed in May for the fall semester and December for the spring semester. These are highly competitive scholarships and will only be granted to a select number of students.

Students who are studying abroad for the academic year must apply for a GW scholarship for each semester they are abroad.  If you are awarded a scholarship in the fall semester it does not automatically transfer to the spring, you will need to reapply for the scholarship in the spring semester.
